Harry Potter Television Series: What we know so far
After the low success of the fantastic beast movie franchise there has been a question as to whether the Harry Potter universe has any more facets to explore. Fans of the books will know that there are many unwritten and unexplored avenues which could be tapped into. Seeing a younger version of the marauders and the initial rise of You-Know-Who would be unprecedented ground. Even a medieval set show with the four founders and origins of Hogwarts could be interesting, think Game of Thrones (Seasons 1 – 6) with wands. HBO however has decided to play it safe and do a reboot of the original books as a television series. In their defence having the series as a television series does allow for the to be more depth in both story telling and character arcs than a film does. Sirius Black was criminally underused in the film compared to the books, even main characters like Ron and Ginny became watered down versions of themselves, with Ron becoming comic relief and Ginny did not show off her fearsome skills with a wand. Hopefully the series will incorporate more of their book personalities in this reboot.
There is still a long wait for the release of this television series. We know that the series is due to be released in the autumn of 2026. It is set to have seven seasons with each season dedicated to each book. Each season will consist of 10 episodes.
There have been a few early rumours on castings with Toby Woolf, Joshua Pickering and Bronte Carmichael are rumoured to be playing Harry, Ron and Hermione. Lesley Manville is set to follow in the late and great Maggie Smith’s footsteps as the Head of Gryffindor House Professor Minerva McGonagall. Peter Capaldi is set to play Albus Dumbledore and Kristian Nairn will be Rubeus Hagrid.
Jamie Campbell Bower is also set to be part of the cast. He may be remembered for playing a young Gellert Grindelwald in previous films, however he is in line to play the big baddie the Dark Lord Voldemort.
Let us know your thoughts on the new series below.

I agree, there was so much content missed from the original books! Hopefully the series takes the opportunity to change that..
